| Of the two first place junior bucks the
intermediate kid will be junior champion. He excels the junior buck
in strength of rear pasterns, depth into the rear barrel and
openness in the area of the escutcheon.
When I compare the 2nd place intermediate buck kid I find that he is not as wide and arched into the escutcheon nor proportionally as long as is the junior buck kid. The junior buck kid will be junior champion.Comparing the yearling buck with the 3 year old for senior champion, the senior championship goes to the 3 year old buck. In general appearance he is showing more length and levelness of rump than is the yearling. In dairy character he is longer and leaner in the neck and more open in the escutcheon than is the yearling. The 2nd place 3 year old buck does not show the levelness and strength in the chine nor the smoothness of blending we see in the 1st place yearling buck. The 1st place yearling buck will be reserve senior champion.As I compare the senior and junior champion for overall grand champion buck, the championship goes quite handily to the 3 yr old buck. Although the junior champion is very similar in style the age and maturity of the 3 year old will easily carry him into the championship. Comparing now the junior champion to the reserve senior champion I will stay with the older animal for reserve grand champion based on his maturity and strength of bone. |
