What Qualifies For Purebred?
From the Registrars Office August 16, 2005
Registration of American/Purebred Mini-Goats
Any experimental mini-goat that is 3rd or more generation cross, can be registered as an
American Mini within it perspective breed.
To be considered for the
American Registry Books the mini goat must:
*Be 3rd generation or greater *Be 12 months or older *Conform to MDGA standard for that breed
|
(if standard is not listed below, refer to AGS or ADGA standard)
Ways To Apply for Registration
A. If already registered as a kid as a 3rd generation (or greater) experimental, you can apply for
American
Registration by sending in registration papers and a "quality" full-body picture of the animal and a height measurement taken at no earlier than one year old or older. $1 fee will apply.
B. If never registered, just send in the registration application, with picture and height measurement taken at one year or older with a $3 fee.
American Mini-Goats are the first step toward Purebred Mini- Goats and can be shown with either Experimentals or with Purebred Mini's once they are established. Each successive generation 3rd thru 5th must be accepted into the American book by the above method.
Registering Purebred
Mini-Goats By the 6th generation----if the past 3 generations have all
bred true to breed type and size, and been accepted into the American
Herdbook---then the 6th generation will be accepted into the
Purebred Herdbook. This is a policy currently being developed by MDGA to help create our mini goat breeds. If you have any questions or ideas about the process, please call MDGA at (509)
